An inquest has heard how a British father drowned on a family holiday in Turkey when he did not return to his hotel room after going for a swim.

Phil Terrence Jarvis, 73, was holidaying in Antalya when his family became concerned for his whereabouts when he failed to return following a walk and a swim at the beach.  An inquest at Pontypridd Coroners’ Court heard that Mr Jarvis, from Porth, South Wales, was later discovered “unresponsive and motionless” in the water.

Coroner’s officer Catherine Burnell read a summary of the circumstances, saying: “Mr Jarvis was on holiday with his family. On September 9, 2022, he went for a walk along the beach and into the sea for a swim.  His wife did not see him for around 30 minutes and went back to the hotel assuming he would meet her there.”
