Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is joining Crystal Palace on a season loan as the Selhurst Park club continue their recruitment drive.

Gallagher, 21, who spent last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion, was also wanted by Leeds United but he felt their was greater chance of regular game time at Palace plus the prospect of staying in London and working with ex France midfielder Patrick Vieira appealed.

Palace signed Joachim Andersen from Lyon this week and still want to add another midfielder plus another attacking player and cover for Wilfred Zaha.

Manchester City’s teenage winger Morgan Rogers remains one of the players they are considering.

Gallagher’s arrival at Crystal Palace comes just 24 hours after the club confirmed the signing of Lyon’s Danish centre back Joachim Andersen.

Andersen put pen to paper with the North London club in a £17million deal that will last five years.

Gallagher and Andersen are not the only signings Vieira has made since he took over at the start of July.  

Palace have already brought in defender Marc Guehi, midfielder Michael Olise and back-up goalkeeper Remi Matthews.
