Two lanes have closed on the M25 Dartford Crossing. This runs anticlockwise between junctions 1A A206 (for Dartford) and J31 A130G (Lakeside/Purfleet).

The closure has reportedly been caused by strong winds.

A ‘yellow’ wind warning has been issued by the Met Office for today, Monday.

This covers almost all of England, Wales and Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland.

The weather service said “very strong winds” are to be expected, with possible disruption as a result.

In particular, it warned journey times could be extended due to road and bridge closures.

On the cause of the warning, the Met Office said: “Previous wind warnings combined, now catering for possible higher impacts in south due to short spell of very strong winds later on Sunday.”

The right-hand tunnel at Dartford is being used as a diversion for traffic developing for the QE2 Bridge.

The left-hand tunnel remains open.
