President Biden walks away as he is questioned over FBI probe

The FBI has refused to release files that reportedly claim Joe Biden accepted bribes from a foreign national when he served as US vice president.

President Biden is facing the serious allegations as the 2024 election campaign looms. It has also been claimed that his son Hunter allegedly received millions of dollars in payments from foreign entities in China and Romania when Biden was vice president.

Republicans have demanded the FBI release a document in which a whistleblower makes the accusations against Biden.

Congressman James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee investigating the Biden family’s business, issued a subpoena for the document last week, requiring the FBI to turn over the file to Congress by midday on Wednesday.

Comer claimed the document “includes a precise description of how the alleged criminal scheme was employed as well as its purpose”.

He said: “The information provided by a whistleblower raises concerns that then-vice president Biden allegedly engaged in a bribery scheme with a foreign national

“The American people need to know if President Biden sold out the United States of America to make money for himself.”

But the FBI refused to hand over the file and instead returned with a six-page letter including various objections, according to a report in the New York Post.

FBI acting assistant director for congressional affairs Christopher Dunham, wrote: “Information from confidential human sources is unverified and, by definition, incomplete.”

Dunham also claimed informant reports should remain private to protect sources.

He added: “As is clear from the name itself, confidentiality is definitional to the FBI’s Confidential Human Source program

“Confidential human sources often provide information to the FBI at great risk to themselves and their loved ones. The information they provide also can create significant risks to others who may be referenced in their reporting.

“We … hope this helps you understand that keeping this kind of source information free from the perception or reality of improper influence — and preventing the redirection of this information for non-law enforcement or non-intelligence uses — is necessary for the FBI’s effective execution of our law enforcement and national security responsibilities.”

Comer lashed out at the FBI’s refusal to hand over the document but did not reveal what his next move would be.

Senator Chuck Grassley

He said: “We’ve asked the FBI to not only provide this record, but to also inform us what it did to investigate these allegations.

“The FBI has failed to do both. The FBI’s position is ‘trust, but you aren’t allowed to verify.’ That is unacceptable. We plan to follow up with the FBI and expect compliance with the subpoena”

It comes after Republican Chuck Senator Grassley slammed the FBI’s “recent history of botching politically charged investigations” last week.

He said: “We believe the FBI possesses an unclassified internal document that includes very serious and detailed allegations implicating the current President of the United States.

“What we don’t know is what, if anything, the FBI has done to verify these claims or investigate further.

“The FBI’s recent history of botching politically charged investigations demands close congressional oversight.”

This also comes after the FBI searched multiple properties for classified documents as part of its investigation into Biden’s potential mishandling of sensitive government records.

Classified documents from when he served as vice president and senator were later found in his home and former office.

The FBI reportedly took six items that with documents that had classified markings during its January search of his home in Wilmington.

Meanwhile, the justice department is also investigating 300 documents marked as classified that were found at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

An FBI spokesperson said in a statement: “Revealing unverified or possibly incomplete information could harm investigations, prejudice prosecutions or judicial proceedings, unfairly violate privacy or reputations, create misimpressions in the public, or potentially identify individuals who provide information to law enforcement, placing their physical safety at risk.

Information from confidential human sources and members of the public is critical to the work of the FBI and we are also committed to protecting the confidentiality of anyone who comes forward.”
