Chelsea icon Florent Malouda believes the Blues shouldn’t make any signings this month because there is a lack of “top players” available. Thomas Tuchel’s team have been in freefall in recent weeks after winning just one of their last seven Premier League matches.
Chelsea could be forced to delve into the market before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month to ensure they don’t fall further down the table.
The west Londoners have been tipped to sign Derby’s teenage left-back Dylan Williams, although it is expected he would only join the club’s academy.
And Malouda, who made 229 appearances during six years with Chelsea, exclusively revealed to Express Sport that he doesn’t believe there are any players out there who are available and who would improve the squad.
“I don’t think in the market there are too many players that fit what they need,” Malouda said, in conjunction with William Hill.
“There are not too many top, top players who are available – and Chelsea should be looking at only adding players who are going to help them challenge for trophies and provide competition for their first team.

And Malouda has blamed the lack of form on the fact key players have been unavailable for matches.
“He [Tuchel] believes in his system and it has been successful but, because of illnesses and players being unavailable for other reasons, it has been hard to get results,” Malouda continued.
“He’s trying to find the right formula and that’s the challenge – but it has been difficult for him when he hasn’t always had his best players available.”
Malouda, who won the Premier League with Chelsea in 2010 and the Champions League two years later, is also refusing to rule out the possibility that Antonio Rudiger could stay at the club.

The influential Real Madrid-linked defender is coming to the end of his contract and has been tipped to quit Stamford Bridge in the summer.
“I think it’s always difficult for players when they are close to the end of their contracts,” Malouda added.
“I hope it gets sorted. But come the end of January he’ll be free – and you never know what can happen.
“For Rudiger, he hasn’t ever said he wants to leave – so I think he’s waiting to see what happens and there’s no rush.”
