Criminals have been imitating banks, marking paperwork with what looks like official branding and using the name of real employees.

The scammers contacted Janet at a vulnerable time, whilst she was dealing with the loss of her mother, and she had just had a stroke.

As Janet was going through a lot at the time, her daughter Julie believed this is how she was victimised and fell for the scam.

Julie said: “Once the penny dropped about what happened, the alarm bells were ringing.
