Kate to give up peacemaker role as Princess doesn't 'feel need' to speak to Harry

NewsKate to give up peacemaker role as Princess doesn't 'feel need' to speak to Harry

Kate, the Princess of Wales does not “feel the need” to try to restart communications with Prince Harry, according to a royal commentator.

The Princess of Wales had previously emerged as a potential peacemaker between the Duke of Sussex and Prince William.

Kate was seen subtly bringing the two brothers together to talk following Prince Philip’s funeral in 2021, striking up a conversation with her brother-in-law and then smoothly taking a step back to let Harry and William speak.

But after the Princess herself came under fire in the Duke’s memoir Spare, she is now expected to fall into line with her husband and avoid interactions with Harry.

True Royalty founder Nick Bullen said: “After Harry said so much about Kate in Spare, and about Camilla, the extended family – his stepmother, his sister-in-law – none of them really feel the need to follow up with a conversation.”

Bullen noted Kate is also unlikely to attempt a rapprochement by speaking to Meghan, noting the duo hardly had a relationship before the Sussexes stepped down from their royal roles.

He told US Weekly: “Kate and Meghan, there was never really any relationship beforehand.

“You’d struggle to find pictures of just them together, there was that moment at Wimbledon and that’s about it. They have no need to speak to each other.”

Kate and Harry shared a close bond before the Duke and Duchess confirmed they would no longer be working royals.

The Prince and Princess of Wales could often be seen on outings with Prince Harry in the early years of their wedding as the trio worked together under the banner of The Royal Foundation.

Harry jokingly referred to his sister-in-law “Cath” in the past, and insisted she was the “sister he never had.”

But his tone changed since stepping down, with the Duke sharing details of an alleged row between Kate and his wife Meghan in the run-up to their wedding in 2018.

He claimed the Duchess of Sussex was left in tears after Kate allegedly demanded Princess Charlotte’s flower girl dress be remade completely.

The Duke also alleged Prince William and Kate pushed him to don a Nazi uniform when he sought their advice on what to wear to a fancy dress party.

In a segment of his memoir, the Duke wrote: “I phoned Willy and Kate, asked what they thought. Nazi uniform, they said.

“Worse than Willy’s leotard outfit! Way more ridiculous! Which, again, was the point.”

Royal insiders claimed the Princess of Wales felt particularly “hurt” by Harry voicing his frustrations in public after the closeness they shared for years.

One insider told US Weekly earlier this year: “Kate feels hurt and betrayed that Harry would do this to her, too, especially as the pair used to be so close.”

Another insider told OK!: “Kate doesn’t even recognise this person Harry’s become.”

And another added: “The lines of communication are totally over now. Harry has said he doesn’t foresee him and Meghan ever returning to live full-time in the UK—and he shouldn’t expect a welcome mat from Kate and William if that ever changes.”
