A traffic collision on the M6 northbound has caused severe delays.
Highways England report that the crash happened between junctions J6 and J7 for Birmingham.
West Midlands Roads is reporting 30 minute delays at Spaghetti junction, a major route around Birmingham.
National Highways: West Midlands reported via Twitter that there is roughly 5.4 miles of congestion on approach.
They add that Lane 1 remains closed as a result of the incident.
Traffic cameras show queues stretching down the motorway.
Four lanes of vehicles can be seen stuck on the road at the busiest time of the evening.
The event is expected to have been cleared between 6:30pm and 6:45pm today, allowing normal traffic conditions to resume.
This evening’s traffic hold-up on the M6 comes after the same motorway faced severe delays going southbound this morning due to an accident involving two cars.
Traffic information website Inrix reported: “One lane closed and queueing traffic due to accident on M6 Southbound from J4 M42 J7 (Coleshill) to J3 A444 Bedworth Bypass (Nuneaton / Coventry).”
A lane was also forced to to close on the northbound carriageway of the M6 this morning, due to a vehicle is having its tyre changed.
