Grammy award winning singer Meat Loaf, real name Michael Lee Aday, died on Thursday night. The news was confirmed in a statement on Friday by his longtime agent Micheal Greene.
He told Deadline the singer and actor had died with his wife Deborah by his side.
Michael also shared how his daughters Pearl and Amanda were able to spend time with their father before his death.
In a statement, his family said: “We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful man.
“From his heart to your souls…don’t ever stop rocking!”
His biggest hits came from his Bat Out Of Hell trilogy, Bat Out of Hell, Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell, and Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose.
These albums have sold more than 65 million copies and have gone down as some of the best-selling albums in history.
Meat Loaf won a Grammy Award for his song I’d Do Anything for Love in the mid 1990s.
As well as his singing career, he was also an actor. Some of his notable parts included playing Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Bob in Fight Club.
