Meanwhile, campaigners are also concerned that nearly half a million Britons could be missing out on Carer’s Allowance.

Official figures show that around 400,000 carers could have overlooked this extra financial aid.

Carer’s Allowance can be claimed by anyone who is looking after someone for 35 hours if they earn £128 or less a week after tax and National Insurance.

This benefit is paid weekly at a rate of £67.60 per week, which works out at £3,515.20 over the year.
