The new budget retailer premises has taken over a site originally occupied by the national institution clothing sales brand in New Mersey Retail Park, Speke, Liverpool. More than 12,000 feet of space previously used to sell reliable underwear and clothing will now be occupied by the one-pound-deal giant.
Poundland is rolling out their own clothing brand PEP&CO at the store which offers budget men’s, women’s and kid’s attire starting from under £2.50 an item.
In menswear, the store is offering T-shirts from under £3 compared to M&S which starts at around £8.
In womenswear, a cardigan could set shoppers back around £10 compared to an average of around £20 in Marks and Spencer.
And for those shopping for children, PEP&CO advertises school wear from £1, compared to products starting at around £5 in M&S.
As well as clothing the store will also feature a PEP&CO Home department featuring kitchen storage items, faux plants, bathroom accessories and soft furnishings.
In a further diversification, customers will also be able to snap up chilled and frozen food.
The store will be around twice the size of a typical Poundland and will open the doors to bargain-hunting Brits on Saturday, October 8 at 9am.
Poundland’s director of retail Darren Kay said: “Speke’s New Mersey Retail Park has undergone some big changes in the last few years and we’re very excited about being part of its future.
“We’re working hard to make sure it’s a store that Speke can be proud of and one that will show off Poundland at its best and put the spotlight on our PEP&CO ranges.”
