Prince Harry had “to operate in the dark” after a text message he sent to Prince William concerning arrangements around the Queen’s death was “ignored”, a new explosive book claims.
In a passage from royal author Omid Scobie’s new book Endgame, readers are told of how the Duke of Sussex made the long journey to Balmoral Castle, wanting to be by his grandmother’s side at the end of her life.
After being instructed to make his way to Scotland by father King Charles III, Harry reached out via text message to Prince William, who he’d been informed was “working on arranging travel”.
But according to yet another book detailing Harry’s relations with other royals, the Duke of Sussex recieved “no response”.
In an excerpt from the yet to be released book, published in People magazine, Scobie wrote: “Harry sent a text message to his brother asking how he and Kate planned to get to Scotland and whether they could travel together. No response.”
The passage continued to claim: “With no further information from other family members or Palace aides, the Sussexes and their team had to operate in the dark.
“Harry was informed that William had already secured a flight with his uncles Andrew and Edward (and Edward’s wife, Sophie), but he couldn’t get in touch with anyone about joining that flight. ‘It was upsetting to witness’, said a source close to the Sussexes. [Harry] was completely by himself on this.”
Queen Elizabeth II, the UK’s longest-serving monarch, died at Balmoral aged 96, on Thursday September 8, 2022, after reigning for 70 years.
Senior royals had gathered at the Scottish estate after the Queen’s doctors became concerned about her health earlier in the day and all the Queen’s children travelled to Balmoral, near Aberdeen, after doctors placed the Queen under medical supervision.
Prince Harry was seen arriving at the scene after Her Majesty had passed away.
Charting his version of the events Scobie continued: “Harry sent another text to his brother. Nothing. Though there were available seats on William’s chartered Dassault Falcon private jet, which was leaving in less than an hour,
“Harry was left to fend for himself. ‘William ignored him’, said a family source.
“‘He clearly didn’t want to see his brother’. Princess Eugenie reached out to Harry to see if he had any more information about their grandmother. She had heard from another family member that it was ‘time’ but knew little more.”
