Princess Kate dazzles in £30,000 sapphire earrings that were once worn on Vogue cover

Princess Kate stepped into the royal spotlight at the Shaping Us National Symposium, which she is hosting with the Royal Foundation Centre of Early Childhood, to give what some royal aides have dubbed “the biggest speech of her life”.

Dressed in a dazzling purple co-ord suit by Emilia Wickstead, the latest in her colourful suit series, Kate was the picture of confidence as she stepped out on stage, pairing her look with navy heels and drop sapphire and diamond earrings.

Jewellery experts at Steven Stone shared details of the £30,000 earrings, which were once worn by another famous royal on the cover of Vogue.

The earrings feature two cabuchon sapphire drops, surrounded by diamond halos, and were worn by Princess Diana on the cover of the fashion magazine in 1994.

Kate has also worn them before at Trooping the Colour in 2022, the last Trooping held for Queen Elizabeth before her deaths just three months later.

Steven Stone’s Managing Director, Zack Stone, commented: “Renowned for seamlessly blending modern trends with a classic and refined sensibility, Kate Middleton is quite the style icon and she never fails to find the perfect accessory for her outfits. Today saw the Princess of Wales match her stylish purple suit with a pair of sapphire and diamond drop earrings.

“The cluster style earrings belonged to Princess Diana, Kate’s late mother-in-law, so are a particularly sentimental choice. Diana wore them on multiple occasions – most notably on the cover of Vogue in 1994 and to the 1996 Met Gala. Until Kate publicly debuted them at the 2022 Trooping the Colour parade, the earrings had been unseen since Diana’s sad passing.

“Featuring two cabochon sapphire drops surrounded by diamond halos, I’d estimate the dazzling earrings to carry a value of £30k.”

In Kate’s speech she boldly set out her plans for a global manifesto to create a framework for the social and emotional work needed for children to help them develop into the best adults possible.

She opened by saying: “People often ask me why I focus my time on early childhood. The answer is because I care deeply about making a positive difference, in helping the most vulnerable and supporting those who are most in need.

“This is not just about the youngest children in our society, who are, by their very nature, vulnerable…it is also about the many young people and adults who are suffering.”

The Princess added: “We must acknowledge and address the root cause of some of today’s toughest social challenges and work together to find better answers.

“It is therefore time we understood that building a healthier world means nurturing the foundations that support our children – everything from the systems that govern early care through to our attitudes to those raising the next generation, and the support they receive.

“Because if we can create a society which sees the child within every adult – and the adult within every child – we will finally start to change it for the better.”
