“We had a car available. We didn’t want to do a livery launch, we’re beyond doing livery launches this year – we wanted to do the real thing.”

Following the launch, Aston Martin will become the first team to run their vehicle out on the track in a private shakedown at Silverstone on Friday.

Green revealed that the reason for doing so was to ‘check the systems’ on the new car, and make sure everything was in order for the opening test in Barcelona later this month.

He continued: “We’re shaking down tomorrow and really what we wanted to do was shakedown as early as possible, to check the systems out on the car and give us some time between shakedown and [the] Barcelona test.
