Royal chef shares Princess Diana's 'favourite' healthy meal she ate 2-3 times a week

NewsRoyal chef shares Princess Diana's 'favourite' healthy meal she ate 2-3 times a week

As a royal, Princess Diana likely sampled delicious cuisine from all the over the world.

However, when she was at home she enjoyed simple, healthy meals.

On his YouTube channel, former royal chef Darren McGrady shared the nutritious lunch or dinner the Princess would eat two or three times per week.

He said: “When I joined Princess Diana, she was patron of 119 different charities, working out at the gym three days a week looking the best she ever did.

“She’d conquered and confronted the bulimia and she said to me, ‘Darren, you take care of all the fats, I’ll take care of the carbs at the gym’.”

Darren explained that his cooking style changed after that interaction, with the royal chef laying off the “heavy creams and rich sauces”. Instead, it was all about “healthy eating”.

He told royal fans: “And the stuffed bell peppers was one of her favourite dishes. She probably had it two or three times a week.”

Princess Diana preferred vegetarian dishes over meaty ones, so stuffed bell peppers were perfect for her, as well as stuffed eggplant.

All the Princess’ meals would contain very little fats – “certainly no butters or creams or anything like that” – but a little garlic was fine. However, there are some members of the Royal Family who cannot stand garlic.

If you’re making stuffed bell peppers à la Diana, make sure to add all her favourite “goodies”.

Darren explained that the peppers would contain zucchini, mushrooms, then rice for carbs to “help her through the day”.

Darren would also add a little mozarella and Parmesan for the cheese lover.

He would finish it off with a smoked tomato pepper sauce. The royal chef made it a “really nice, healthy dish”.

In another video, Darren McGrady shared another one of Princess Diana’s favourite dishes – plus how to make it.
