The state pension will increase from April 11, 2022, it has been confirmed.

This year, the sum will rise by 3.1 percent, a lower increase than pensioners had originally expected.

The reason for this is that the Government chose to temporarily scrap the triple lock mechanism due to perceived lack of affordability.

The amounts people will actually receive through the state pension increase will differ, due to their personal National Insurance record.
