Train drivers are to hold three days of strike action over the summer, including on the day of the FA Cup final contested by Manchester United and Manchester City.
The strike action, which is regarding a pay dispute, has been announced by the trade union Aslef and threatens to scupper the plans of fans travelling to the capital from Manchester on June 3.
The industrial action may also impact the Epsom Derby, which is taking place on the same day as the showpiece final at Wembley, with horse racing fans now forced to find alternative routes to the Surrey racetrack.
Union members will also strike on May 12 and 31.
