Twins transform themselves by shedding a combined weight of 500lbs

NewsTwins transform themselves by shedding a combined weight of 500lbs

Twin sisters who weighed in at over 600lbs each have totally transformed their lives after losing a combined total of 500lbs.

Brandi and Kandi Dreier appeared on the TLC reality show My 600lb Life, where it was revealed that they each faced severe and life-threatening health issues because of their huge weight.  The 29-year-olds won the hearts of viewers as they battled to shed the pounds, with Kandi suffering a pulmonary embolism and a heart attack on the operating table during weight-loss surgery.

She was left her in a week-long medically induced coma but recovered and now both sisters look completely unrecognisable and are enjoying life as slimmed down versions of their former selves.  Six years from their episode on the reality TV show, the pair are utterly changed and are doing well health-wise.

Both are thriving and regularly share updates with their fans on their social accounts, with Brandi giving frequent news about life as a mother to two young children with her husband, Femi.  In some of the shared images, Brandi looks much slimmer and happy as she cuddles up to her baby daughter and her husband for a family snap.

Other pictures she shared on Facebook show her enjoying the kind of lifestyle she was not able to before.  When Brandi revealed she had given birth to her second child, a daughter, in 2020, she wrote on social media: “Words can’t even describe how truly lucky and blessed we are.  I can’t thank you God, enough to have given me the honour of being these little babies’ mommy.

“They are my purpose in life, they are my everything. God is so amazing.”

Kandi, who is in a relationship with a woman named Ruth, also looks fantastic and posts regularly on her social media account.

During the reality show My 600lb Life, the women revealed that they used food as a coping mechanism after facing abuse during their childhood. They said in a statement following their episode that “food doesn’t rule our lives anymore” during an interview with People magazine.

They also told the publication that following the show, their journey was on the right path, stating: “There’s not been any other setbacks. It’s like it didn’t even happen.”

A few years down the line, they even appeared in My 600-lb Life: Where Are They Now? to prove how well they were doing.
