A Just Stop Oil protester appears to have been kicked and punched by a motorist overcome with anger, as the climate activists slow-marched down one of the capital’s busy streets.
The eco-group tweeted a video of the incident, saying: “BREAKING: Just Stop Oil Supporter Assaulted While Demanding No New Oil and Gas.
“Daniel was assaulted while marching this morning, and remained nonviolent throughout. Disruption is difficult, but it’s necessary.”
The man was seen getting out of a Mercedes and wearing a red cap, before the incident took place.
The footage which captured the face-off showed drivers blaring their horns in frustration at the protesters blocking their path.
The person who shot the video approaches the line of protesters from behind as a shouting woman appears from a Mercedes. It appears the car had a large dent in its door.
The woman is then followed by a man in a red cap who engages with someone at the front of the group of activists that Just Stop Oil referred to as a “supporter” called Daniel.
The red-capped man appears to attempt to punch Daniel, before pushing him to the floor and kicking him near his head.
The video appears to show Daniel’s phone fly from his hand following the kick.
